wicrawl - WiFi Auditing

Midnight Research Labs - wicrawl: "Wicrawl is a simple wi-fi (802.11x) Access Point auditor with a simple and flexible plugin architecture. The plugins allow us to find out useful information about an AP so we don’t have to manually check each access point. Plugins are implemented for existing common tools, and new plugins can be written in any language. Wicrawl is able to use multiple cards, and eventually will be able to use multiple computers."

Linux kernel gains new real-time support

Linux kernel gains new real-time support:

"The 2.6.18 release includes real-time technology that will save individual kernel developers from having to maintain separate real-time kernel trees, according to TimeSys. Additionally, embedded Linux developers or normal desktop users wishing to build kernels capable of achieving millisecond-level real-time responsiveness will no longer have to apply patches."

This should be very handy/useful for many people. I personally see the value in audio recording, when response time is extremely important. While it is not incredibly difficult to apply the patches to get real-time support, this step will make it much more useful for people that are new to Linux.
